FleetBroadband provides cost-effective maritime communications services that include broadband data and voice, operating simultaneously through a compact antenna to give near global coverage. FleetBroadband provides:

• Voice calls can be made at the same time as accessing data services. Up to 9 concurrent voice calls are possible using the Multi-Voice service.
• Standard IP over a shared channel at rates to 432kbps.
• Streaming IP to provide guaranteed data rates of up to 256kbps.

Solutions

Three terminal types are available, the FB150, FB250 and FB500, with different performance capabilities and sizes to suit your requirements. Terminals are available from a number of manufactures, with Thrane & Thrane being the H2OSatellite recommended brand. All terminals are specifically designed for the marine environment.

IsatPhone Pro

The IsatPhone Pro provides a reliable, robust handset that is easy to use. The Inmarsat satellites provide a reliable network connection and near global coverage. The phone has an excellent battery life of up to 8 hours talk time and 100 hours standby time. The IsatPhone Pro offers:

• Voice.
• Data (up to 20kbps).
• SMS.

The IsatDock Marine provides a docking station for the IsatPhone that incorporates a handset and hands free speaker phone. An RJ11 / POTS interface enables connection to standard corded handsets, cordless DECT handsets or interfacing to a PBX system. The GPS feature of the IsatPhone can be used to generate tracking messages that are sent to an SMS or email address either manually, automatically, or as part of the emergency alert function.

Inmarsat C

Inmarsat C offers a data only “satellite telex” service ideally suited for short messaging to communications devices such as personal computers, fax and telex machines. A range of terminals is available with many models approved for GMDSS.  Inmarsat C features include:

• Store-and-forward two way messaging up to 32kB to:
  • Email address
  • Telex number
  • Fax number
  • Other Inmarsat C / Mini-C devices
  • Sort access codes (SAC)

• Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) approved.
• Ship Security Alert Systems (SSAS).
• Enhanced Group Calling which enables information providers to broadcast messages to selected groups of ships.
• Data reporting and polling.
• Position reporting.

Fleetphone

FleetPhone provides a low-cost global satellite phone service and is ideal on vessels where voice is the primary requirement or additional voice lines are required. The below decks FleetPhone unit is connected to a small omnidirectional antenna. FleetPhone provides:

• Voice with calls charged to vessel or pre-pay cards.
• Data (2.4kbps).
• SMS (Oceana 400 requires add on unit).

Solution

The FleetPhone service is available through two terminals – the Oceana 400 and the Oceana 800. The 400 is a simple unit with an RJ11 / POTS interface supporting 5 standard corded or cordless DECT phones or integration into a PBX. The 800 also adds a built in handset, GPS receiver for providing tracking reporting via SMS and support for the 505 Emergency Calling service.

Inmarsat Fleet

Inmarsat Fleet services support voice, fax, and data communications for both ocean-going and coastal vessels.

Fleet terminals allow users to make phone calls and also access email and the Internet using Mobile ISDN, or stay permanently online with the always on Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS). Fleet services includes:

• Voice calls.
• ISDN 64 or 128kbps data.
• Mobile Data Packet Service (MPDS) data transfer.
• Group 3 fax.
• GMDSS compliant (Fleet 77 only).

There are three Fleet terminal types, the Fleet 33, Fleet 55 and Fleet 77, with different performance capabilities and sizes to suit your requirements. (Note that Fleet 55 terminals are no longer manufactured.)
